The third Unlimited! conference Innovation for Access: New Interactions will be hosted by the OPEN Expertise Centre for Accessible Media and Culture and the TricS research group of the University of Antwerp on July 2nd and 3rd, 2020 at its City Campus.
Preliminary Unlimited! programme
July 2, 2020 – Workshop
- 9am-12am – The OPEN Expertise Centre organizes a workshop on intralingual live subtitling with respeaking.
July 3, 2020 – Conference
- 9am-10am – Unlimited! Keynote speech (TricS research group.)
- 10am – 5pm – Unlimited! Paper presentations (CfP open until december 1st, 2019).
- 5pm-6pm – Reception
Our colleagues from the EU live subtitling research project ILSA (Interlingual Live Subtitling for Access) are organising an interesting event on July 2nd in Antwerp in the afternoon that will be of interest to Unlimited! participants as well. More information will be available on their website.
About our keynote speaker, Josélia Neves:
Josélia Neves has a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, an MA in English Studies, a PhD in Translation Studies, with a dissertation on Subtitling for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (SDH) by the University of Surrey Roehampton, London.
In her career as a university teacher and researcher, she has led a number of collaborative projects in various fields – television, the cinema and DVD, tourism, museums and cultural venues, publishing, the performing arts and education – in an effort to provide access to people with a disability. Her expertise is in Subtitling, Captioning, Audio Description, Audio-tactile Transcreation and in Multisensory Communication. She is presently a Professor at Hamad bin Khalifa University, in Qatar, where she teaches on the MA in Audiovisual Translation and a member of TransMedia Research Group.
