Translating Official Documents
DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is for Certified Translators and Associate Members with a rare language combination in which no Certified Translator is listed in the STIBC directory.
Official documents such as birth certificates, degrees/diplomas/certificates, transcripts and driver’s licenses are issued in different ways in different countries, and there are certain formats and procedures that can be used when translating those documents into English.
This workshop aims to clarify some of the questions the STIBC office has received over the years and give guidelines to members who would like to do official document translations.
The following topics will be covered in this workshop:
-accepting/receiving documents to be translated
– saving/storing documents
– creating templates
– translating
– preparing translator’s statement
– preparing your translation package
– delivering your translation package to clients
– invoicing
There will be a Q&A session at the end of the workshop.
This is an online only workshop. You will receive an invitation to join the online session a day before the event will take place via Zoom.
