Russia and the United Kingdom: Literary Translation as a Way of Intercultural Communication

Library for Foreign Literature and The Institute for Literary Translation in Moscow present the creative meeting “Russia and the United Kingdom: Literary Translation as a Way of Intercultural Communication”. Speakers at the event will be translator and writer, Chairman of the Guild “Masters of Literary Translation”, editor-in-chief of “Inostrannaya Literatura” (“Foreign Literature”) magazine Alexander Livergant; poet, professor of translation at the Russian State University for the Humanities and honorary doctor of literature at Trinity College Grigory Kruzhkov; poet, translator and author of books for children Marina Boroditskaya. The special guest of the meeting is Irina Kirillova, University of Cambridge Lecturer in Russian Studies, specialist in the writings of Dostoevsky and legendary translator of the Royal Family. The topic of her speech sounds unusual: “The Translator: an Absent Presence”.
