Reinventing the Translation Industry

8 June 2020 - 18 June 2020

A Virtual TAUS Conference on the Future of Translation

Overview

After fifty years of steady and uninterrupted growth, the translation industry is now for the first time ever hit by a serious set-back. The COVID-19 virus questions the virtues of globalization, travel, tourism… and many of the driving forces behind the growth in translation needs over the last decades. TAUS, the industry think tank, invites buyers and providers of language services and technologies to join the Reinventing the Translation Industry virtual conference on June 8-18.

What will be the state of the translation industry in the summer of 2021? Following the scenario-based planning methodology participants in the conference will brainstorm about the plausible outcomes of this global crisis.

The outcome of this conference is a strategic assessment of the direction to follow for buyers and providers of translation services and technologies in the perspective of a global reset and changing industry landscape.

Participants

We invite all stakeholders in the translation industry – buyers and providers of services and technology, government agencies, consultancies – to register and participate in this virtual TAUS conference. Since this is a virtual conference, it will be quite easy for teams or peer groups from the same companies to sign up together and participate from the same meeting room. Team and peer group registrations are recommended for companies to extract most value from this industry-wide brainstorming and benchmarking exercise.

The program is broken down into four two-hour sessions:

  1. The Changing Landscape
Analyzing the economic and business driving forces that determine the future state of translation.
  2. The Quantum Leap
Historically technology breakthroughs have been the key to recovering from economic crises. How does this feature this time?
  3. The Future State of the Translation Industry
The scenario-based planning method brings us automatically into one of four quadrants in our model of the future. But do we find that acceptable?
  4. The Reinvention of the Translation Industry
Let us write history and design the future of our translation business.
