TAUS Virtual New Year’s Reception 2020

16 January 2020 @ 08:00 - 17:00

TAUS Virtual New Year’s Reception 2020

2020 is going to be an amazing year for the translation industry. Not because it’s a magic number. But really because AI is going to show its effects on our work and our industry in a big way. We’ll see the cost going down and our business grow. We will expand into many more languages and more flows of content. We will move upstream into more value-added services. The transformation of the translation industry will accelerate. Long-expected changes will now start to take shape. It’s like we are getting closer as an industry to our mission to help the world communicate better.

Join the traditional virtual TAUS New Year’s Reception on January 16 to contemplate on this transformation. Here is an overview of the 2020 themes that will be discussed in the webinar:

Powering Language Data. Data is responsible for a fundamental shift in the translation industry from a hierarchical labor cost-based economic model to a flat free-machines model. The speed with which the machines are improving when fed with the right quality and volumes of data turns translation into a near-zero marginal cost type of business.

World-Readiness. Thanks to the power of data we can – for the first time – scale our localization business quite easily, add dozens or hundreds of new languages and set goals like reaching a billion new users and the last customer on this planet. A preview on the World-Readiness Conversation with heads of globalization at the TAUS Conference in San Jose with Paula Shannon.

Who Owns My Language Data. On the agenda for 2020 is the plan to define an industry language data policy. We will discuss the main takeaways from a White Paper jointly published by Baker McKenzie and TAUS with Wouter Seinen, Partner at Baker McKenzie and leads the IP and Commercial Practice Group in Amsterdam.

And of course, we’ll give an overview of the TAUS roadmap for DQF, Data, eLearning and walk you through the TAUS Events agenda for 2020 as well.
